Glee: The Music, Volume 1 [Soundtrack]
GLEE, which features a soundtrack of hit music from past to present, follows an optimistic high school teacher, WILL SCHUESTER (Matthew Morrison), as he tries to refuel his own passion while reinventing the high school’s glee club and challenge a group of outcasts to realize their star potential. It’s not an easy task when the pitch-imperfect club includes MERCEDES (Amber Riley), a forceful diva-in-training; ARTY (Kevin McHale), a geeky guitarist; KURT (Chris Colfer), a dramatic soprano; TINA (Jenna Ushkowitz), a punk rocker; and self-proclaimed “star” RACHEL (Lea Michele), a perfectionist firecracker.
McKinley’s cruel high school caste system prevents the glee club from flourishing, so Will recruits FINN (Cory Monteith), the quarterback with movie star looks, to join the group even though he wants to protect his reputation with his holier-than-thou girlfriend, QUINN (Dianna Agron), and his arrogant teammate, PUCK (Mark Salling). With harsh criticism from everyone including Will’s tough-as-nails wife TERRI (Jessalyn Gilsig) and McKinley’s egotistical cheerleading coach SUE SYLVESTER (Jane Lynch), he is determined to prove them all wrong and lead the glee club to the greatest competition of them all: Nationals. Elton John and Rock The Pianist

The history of rock is replete with virtuoso pianists, who preferred inventive shine in the “spotlight” of stardom rather than go looking for impeccable technique, absolute, like the one we encounter in some classical artists.
The pianist is often a rock musician demonstrative. Unlike his fellow jazz, he favors the pomp rather than sobriety. It shows more than he suggests. This is often a technical “flashy” which requires skill and showmanship. The choice of pieces is important and should enhance this aspect.
The pianist digs his personality even within the formation. His popularity climbs as a barometer, when the band he plays with the wind in its sails. If that fails, he does not hesitate to change formation or forming one he believes. The temperament of the piano rock is that of a fighter, but not necessarily that of a hero. There is also, in rock music as elsewhere, artists who believe that unity is more important than individualism. As a pianist or guitar player is the “leader” of a group it means!
The development of an instrument compared to others must be consistent with the philosophy of the group, because the risk of an internal imbalance, a rivalry may arise at any time up to the dissolution of the training . The music group always requires a certain wisdom and a good agreement, whether rock or other genre.

Eubie Blake and The History Of Jazz

piano keyboard
History of jazz, like almost all arts, is divided into three stages. It was first done by “the people: the Dixieland and New Orleans, the blues and gospel song and then for the people: the middle jazz, rhythm and blues , soul jazz, he is finally charged, may not be “against” the people, but it is done “outside” of the people: this was one time the bop and free jazz and post free jazz of today.
Jazz has more than one hundred years old, it is normal since its infancy it has evolved considerably. Next you have any preconceived ideas based on aesthetic imperatives defined by fixed ideas or criticism that you are as free as receptive, your idea may be different at all.
Jazz pianists, there have been many, but those who have renewed or changed the language of jazz are not many. The prerogative of a good pianist jazz is so rich that few elected to succeed: a refined sense of rhythmic and harmonic language, a sense of melody, a good ear, a quick-witted and inventive, and modesty, because The distinctive feature of the jazz musician is to keep pushing its own limits.
You will notice that I did not mention the technique, I should also be talking about “technology” because all the major pianists and jazz musicians have developed their own instrumental approach, whether or not self-taught musicians. Jazz music can not live if it is formatted, conditioned by educational precepts. Jazz music is linked to freedom.
If gossips say “jazz is dead,” is to go far fast. Jazz has continued to adjust, to slip into other musical forms. Jazz is now ubiquitous in forms and colors quite different. That may be why we no longer distinguish very well today as original music.
Eubie Blake,
STRIDE AND PIANIST OF RAGTIME
Eubie Blake learns to read music very young and began his early career as pianist in the boxes disreputable Baltimore. Until the eve of his death at age 100, he never stopped playing ragtime, inserting in its interpretations of delicious asides about his career and his colleagues. Read the rest of this entry »
THE POLICE – The Inventors Of Rock-Reggae

The British rock band was the heyday of nightclubs during the late 70s. The Police is a trio of Stewart Copeland (drums), Andy Summers (guitar, vocals, replacing Henry Padovani 1977) and Sting (bass, vocals) will have a significant influence on the evolution of the group.
Coming from the punk generation, The Police owes its originality to a deep career by inventing a style located at the crossroads of rock and reggae. The group has produced many hits including Roxanne, Message in a Bottle and Every Breath You Take. Boasting a successful career, The Police, however, has produced 5 albums as “studio”, between 1978 and 1983.
POLICE – ROXANNE (1978)
When in 1977, thriving punk, Henry Padovani (a young French guitarist) and Stewart Copeland decided to form the band The Police are looking for a bass player and Sting (Gordon Matthew Summer) that ‘they call. The latter, while bassist and vocalist of a jazz fusion band called “Last Exit”, accepts the proposal of Copeland. Very quickly, after several rehearsals, the band performed in some London clubs and recorded in the wake of their first titles in a small 8-track studio.
In parallel with the early career of The Police, Sting and Stewart Copeland joined two former members of the band Gong, Andy Summers and Mike Howlett to form “Stronium 90″. This adventure is only an album released in 1977 under the name of Strontium 90: Police Academy (two titles on that album will be then operated by The Police). It was at this time that Andy Summers joined the trio, but Henry Padovani longer involved in the punk movement is little consensus with Andy Summers. While recording the first album in 1978, the rupture between the two guitarists. Henry Padovani decided to leave the band to join Wayne County And The Electric Chairs.
Formed in this trio of Copeland, Summers and Sting, The Police released their first album Outlandos d’Amour where we can hear Roxanne and Can not Stand Losing You. The next album, Reggatta de Blanc (1979), confirms the originality of the trio with two other titles lighthouse: Walking on the Moon and Message in a Bottle. Read the rest of this entry »
The Beatles vs The Rolling Stones

Two Styles That All Oppose
During almost two decades, the famous quartet from Liverpool, The Beatles, was in rivalry with an equally famous group, also English, The Rolling Stones. This rivalry was mostly maintained by fans of both groups, finding in this confrontation a way to assert their musical tastes, but also a certain ideal, a concept of lifestyle. The players, meanwhile, defended themselves from any involvement in this rivalry teenager. After the breakup of the Beatles, this opposition continued burning and helped bring the group in Liverpool legend, along with Elvis Presley. The possible reconstitution of the group is also a subject often covered by many media. These rumors will cease with the assassination of John Lennon in 1980.
The creative force of the Beatles and their influence in the history of rock music is today beyond doubt. Even years after their separation and the death of John Lennon and George Harrison, for many artists, the Beatles remain the reference to a certain musical aesthetic multidisciplinary choirs, sound processing, melodies, etc.
For fans, the Beatles are the foremost songwriters, sensual, melodic and memorable with its worn by a tailor-made arrangements, arrangements that have at times been pushed many habits for many artists. Their stories intersect the Rolling Stones during the recording in the studios of Abbey Road, the concept album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” (Mick Jagger spent time to time to watch the local group, then immersed in a timeless musical synergy).
The Beatles, to affirm their difference at a time when the rivalry between the groups was omnipresent (the Rolling Stones but also the Beach Boys) quickly choose the musical diversity rather than gathering around a unique and definable as rock ‘ n ‘roll (the music source influential early career). Moreover, the Beatles form progressively a new way of working the music using the techniques at existing peak at the time, refining the extreme arrangements along with the arranger George Martin.
Rock’n'roll was the basis by the band gradually disappears, giving way to works increasingly sophisticated, often sailing with some happiness between simplicity and depth, lightness and firmness: the languorous song (” Yesterday “), combines with the cheerfulness (” Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da “) or occasionally muscular rock (” Helter Skelter “).
